Monthly Competition Awards

For each Projected Images monthly competition, the following awards may be given(*), based on the high scorers in the category (**)

  • First Place, Second Place, Third Place, and Honorable Mentions - AA Color 

  • First Place, Second Place, Third Place, and Honorable Mentions - A Color 

  • First Place, Second Place, Third Place, and Honorable Mentions - AA Nature

  • First Place, Second Place, Third Place, and Honorable Mentions - A Nature 

 

(*) The actual number of awards depends on the number of entries in the given competition; approximately one award is given for every five submitted entries.

(**) In case of tie scores, it's at the judge's discretion as to how to allocate the First, Second, Third, and HM awards; First Place will never have a lower score than Second Place, but they could have same scores.

End-of-Year Awards

1 - Photographer of the Year Awards

At the end-of-year meeting and Awards Dinner, several awards are based on the running score totals:

  • First Place and Second Place in Projected Images - AA Color 

  • First Place and Second Place in Projected Images - A Color 

  • First Place and Second Place in Projected Images - AA Nature

  • First Place and Second Place in Projected Images - A Nature 

 

At end of year the 2 individuals placing 1st and 2nd in the A level can move up to the AA competition level. Final standings are separate for Projected Images Color versus Nature. So someone in Projected Images Color could move to AA while remaining in A for Nature, for example​.

2 - Best of Best Awards

Those works that took first or second place at any competition during the year are entered into the final "Best of Best" competition for each category. The A and AA level entrants for a given category are combined, resulting in the following awards:

  • First Place and Second Place in Projected Images - Color 

  • First Place and Second Place in each Projected Images - Nature

3 - Special Awards

A number of special awards are awarded which honor past founding members of the RPC:

  • John Riggs Award for best Creative (Color) Projected Image

  • Phil Cowgill Award for Best Wildflower (Nature) Projected Image

  • Laura B. Mills Award for Best Nevada (Color) Projected Image

  • Art Marston Award for Best Monochrome Landscape

  • Steve Johns Award for best Color Landscape
